no, i think it definitely sounds like a good solid effort at trance - i think you got the sound design and structure down. that being said, i think the melodies aren't particularly great (some notes are somewhat dissonant in a way that doesn't really sound right), and obviously there does need to be a lot more effort in adding more layers (not to nitpick but i think you do want to sidechain the instruments to the kick) but i think you definitely made a solid effort.

i will say though, that i come from a background of making music based upon ASOT and likewise "mainstream trance" so i do have a *very* different perspective on what makes a trance track trance, but i can understand that you probably don't and so it's expected that you probably wouldn't necessarily make something that "conforms". but, regardless, even though it's not the trance i necessarily know, i think this could be considered trance.

Thanks for the advice, yeah now that you mention it I realize that a lot of the melodies aren't that great, and yeah a lot of the notes are dissonant, I rushed this track in order to get it done on time so a lot of the track I just said it had to do. Also I was thinking about adding side-chaining to that kick but I didn't want to try something I've never worked with before the day before I send it in.

i hear a bit of clashing between melodies, but this sounds suuuuuper epic!! really nice, especially since you made it in half an hour -- really like that flute run you put in!

Oh yeah, ahah, i agree with the clashing; if i were to make a full track of it, i would probably separate them or add better melodies^^
It really was a fun run to get some over the top epic stacked stuff, something i never really tried before.

i think the vibe is there, but one thing that really bothers me is that top pluck is very out of tune. other than that, i think it could potentially use a bit more ambient sound and maybe louder reverb? overall though, i think this is a solid creation.

wowwww this is so good, i really love the atmosphere the solo piano melody creates! could potentially use more reverb and a little bit more background ambience though; also i think this is more personal taste but i think the bass notes sometimes clash with the top notes
